It is Blogtober Day 23 and I will be honest I was not going to include this as part of Blogtober as I felt it was a little off-topic with not being anything related to autumn or Halloween. I decided that since it was a book I started to read at the beginning of Autumn it counted so here is a little review of a book that I was just not sure about!
Once A Liar by A.F Brady is a crime thriller written about a high-powered sociopath! (yes this is exactly why I picked up the book.) He, unfortunately, hits a bump in the road when he is accused of the less than pleasant murder of his mistress. His character who is a defense attorney in Manhattan is not someone who I would describe as likable but he is certainly compelling.
The story is based around the question did he kill Charlie Doyle? and well if it was not Peter Caine who did?
I have to admit this book took me a little while to get into because of its leaps from past to present as each chapter was either past or present. Once I had got into the story though it was hard to put down.
Peter’s character is heartless and cold but to those who see him they see him as charming, handsome and almost captivating this meaning that when he is put forward as a suspect for murdering his mistress it is hard to decide whether he did it or not.
The thing is when you find out the truth about who killed Charlie it is more twisted and dark than I would have guessed but that is exactly what made the book that little bit more amazing.
Written by A.F Brady who has a degree in psychology and holds two masters degrees in psychological counseling she managed to write a novel that will have you wanting to know more.
I loved this novel as I think it allowed you almost to play a detective in your mind. You could start to attempt to put the pieces of the puzzle together and try and work out for yourself whether or not he killed Charlie.
If you love crime thrillers or being put at the centre of a crime story almost as a detective you will love this.
Have you read Once A Liar? What did you think?
