Favourite Christmas Books
When it comes to Christmas, one of my favourite traditions as a child was reading the same couple of books every year with my parents and brother. Some of them were books that we would all sit, as a family, and read together on my parent’s bed, a chapter at a time, each night on the run-up to Christmas and others were books I used to read on my own. These are my top 5 favourite festive books from both now and my childhood!
A Family Christmas – This was the ultimate Christmas book in our house when I was growing up. We would all curl up in my parent’s bed and they would take it in turns to read a chapter each night to us throughout the whole of December. Even though we did this every year it was still something both my brother and I looked forward to! On Christmas Eve, we would spend the last hour or so before bed finishing the book and it always felt like the perfect way to count down!
Flora McFlimsey’s Christmas Eve– This was my most favourite book as a child and I looked forward to reading it every Christmas. I absolutely loved dolls as a child and this story was just so magical. We had this as part of a book of Christmas short stories and it was the one I couldn’t wait to read every year. I have actually just borrowed this off my mum to read again this year as I haven’t got myself a copy yet. It would be a lovely thing to read to my children in the future.
A Christmas Carol– I think this one that might sit on most people’s Christmas reading list. We did read this a few times as kids but this was something I read later on. It’s such a classic and once I have read this one it really feels like Christmas. It’s a little more serious than the others but it is still a favourite!
The Nutcracker– This is one of my absolute favourite books. As a ballet fan, this one was always a childhood favourite as I could read the book and see it come to life on stage. It is such a magical story and I always loved to read this one together with my mum.
The Snowman – As with The Nutcracker, I used to love being able to read this one and then watch the film and see it in a physical form. The film is so beautifully made and the illustrations in this book are just as incredible. We actually went to see the stage production of this last year and it was such an amazing production. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
Omg!!!๐ฑ๐ฑ I used to read the snowman all the time as a kid, I completely forgot about it! Iโm going to have to find that again๐ (hopefully know one got rid of it๐ค). Awesome post babe! โค๏ธXoxo
