D.I.Y Advent Calendar- Blogmas Day 9!

Happy December!!

Welcome to day nine of Blogmas, for today’s post I thought I would keep things simple but creative. I am sharing again a post from last year because in all honest I think I took for granted the little activities we would do as a house hold and in all honesty this Christmas I am missing my ex housemates more than I thought I would.

For the first time last year, it was decided we would make an advent for our Kitchen! This was super exciting because WE LOVE CHRISTMAS.

I thought I would share with you how it was done! Just in case you also want to make your own Christmas advent!

It started off by picking up some table numbers… Literally, cost a pound from the wedding section of a craft store. We then decided that on the back of every day we were going to write out a Christmas themed quote. So below I have included a list of some examples of quotes you could use:

  1. I WILL HONOUR CHRISTMAS IN MY HEART, AND TRY TO KEEP IT ALL YEAR.
  2. EVERY TIME A BELL RINGS, AN ANGEL GETS HIS WINGS.
  3. May you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas Eve.
  4. My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others.
  5. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.
  6. Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!
  7. I believe… I believe… It’s silly, but I believe.
  8. He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.
  9. Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.
  10. Christmas magic is silent. You don’t hear it — you feel it. You know it. You believe it.
  11. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
  12. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.
  13. Christmas is the day that holds all time together.
  14. Christmas will always be as long as we stand heart to heart and hand in hand.
  15. Christmas magic is silent. You don’t hear it — you feel it. You know it. You believe it.
  16. Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind.
  17. At Christmas, all roads lead home

We created a calendar in the shape of a Christmas tree on our kitchen door! In preparation for the 1st of December!

This year as you will know if you are following over on Instagram you will know that I have a Harry Potter advent this year. However I felt like this had to be shared again. It was just so fun to make and I forget how much fun the little things are with friends and family.

2020 if nothing else has taught me never to take the little moments we have together for granted and this day of decorating and making the advent calendar is one I wish to recreate again. Christmas doesn’t feel the same without you here. (We no longer live together as a group.) but with a little bit of Christmas magic I cannot wait to see you again soon just as soon as we can. I have decided that in the run up to next Christmas we have to reunite and recreate an updated version. If you can’t tell I miss you my fellow Christmas elf.

Have you gone for a traditional advent calendar or a homemade one this year?

Love Always,

Gee xo
