Book Reviews

Weekly TBR!

I hope that you are having the best start to 2021 you can in this current madness! To start with the new posting schedule I thought I would share with you what I will be reading this week. There is only two books on this weeks TBR but that is because uni work is currently having to take over from reading for a couple weeks. I thought for the first week I would choose two books that have been on my TBR for months.

The Apothecary by Maile Meloy:

The first book on this weeks TBR is The Apothecary by Maile Meloy! This is a book I picked up on a spontaneous trip to Lewes a few months back but fell completely in love with the cover and the synopsis!

Janie Scott has just moved to London from sunny lA, and she’s finding it forbidding, dreary and cold. That is until she meets Benjamin Burrows who dreams of becoming a spy. When Benjamin’s father – a mysterious apothecary – is kidnapped, he entrusts Janie and Benjamin with a powerful book, full of ancient spells and magical potions.

But there are others who seek the book’s secrets- spies in possession of nuclear weapons that could destroy the world…

Pre-read thoughts:

This is a book that I figure will be up my street because who does not love a little bit of magic and a little bit of drama. I am looking forward to learning a little more about Janie Scott and her story!

The Man Who Didn’t Call by Rosie Walsh:

The other book on this weeks TBR is The man who didn’t call by Rosie Walsh. When I say this has been on my TBR list forever I mean it was one of the first books I purchased of 2020. So I will finally be able to review this! Ticking it off my TBR.

Imagine you meet a man, spend seven glorious days together, and fall in love. And it’s mutual: you’ve never been so certain of anything.

So when he leaves for a long-booked holiday and promises to call from the airport, you have no cause to doubt him.

But he doesn’t call.

Your friends tell you to forget him, but you know they’re wrong: something must have happened; there must be a reason for his silence.

What do you do when you finally discover you’re right? That there is a reason – and that reason is the one thing you didn’t share with each other?

The truth.

Pre-read thoughts:

I must find out why he didn’t call. I love a good romance book however this novel had me hooked at how many twists and turns the book is set to have. I am very much looking forward to finding out the truth.

Have you read any of these? What are you reading this week?

Love Always,

Gee xoxo
