A little magic and sparkle

Happy February!

I hope you are all having a lovely Monday so far! It is officially February and I have so much exciting content to come this February. We have a month filled with Blog tours. I am guest posting for the wonderful @mindsimplicitybeautyblog which will be out on the 5th of February I cannot wait for you guys to read that post so please head over to her and check it out. Not only that but I will be also putting out some Valentines content because it is the month of love after all. Why not spread some love to my favourite people.

As always we are kicking off this week with a weekly TBR, this week however includes books I have read once before but if anyone knows me they will know it is an obsession and I will be rereading this several times. I thought I would start February off with a couple different books and ones that I have loved forever.

A Study in Scarlet- Arthur Conan Doyle:

Synopsis:

“A Study in Scarlet” is the first published story of one of the most famous literary detectives of all time, Sherlock Holmes. Here Dr. Watson, who has just returned from a war in Afghanistan, meets Sherlock Holmes for the first time when they become flat-mates at the famous 221 B Baker Street. In “A Study in Scarlet” Sherlock Holmes investigates a murder at Lauriston Gardens as Dr. Watson tags along with Holmes while narratively detailing his amazing deductive abilities.

Pre-Read thoughts:

  • Okay let’s be honest we knew a reread of the Sherlock Holmes stories would happen
  • How beautiful is this edition
  • I love how it discusses the friendship between Sherlock and Watson (what a duo)
  • Sherlock’s London is the cutest little chapter about the locations within this novel and how Arthur Conan Doyle decided where it should be set
  • Are we going to watch the films and the BBC series again after reading this ABSOLUTELY!
  • Yes I have an obsession

Mad about the boy – Helen Fielding:

Synopsis:

Move over, Bridget Jones’s diary: She’s back, and this time she’s texting and tweeting. . .
Fourteen years after landing Mark Darcy, Bridget’s life has taken her places she never expected. But despite the new challenges of single parenting, online dating, wildly morphing dress sizes, and bafflingly complex remote controls, she is the same irrepressible and endearing soul we all remember—though her talent for embarrassing herself in hilarious ways has become dangerously amplified now that she has 752 Twitter followers. As Bridget navigates head lice epidemics, school-picnic humiliations, and cross-generational sex, she learns that life isn’t over when you start needing reading glasses—and why one should never, ever text while drunk.
Studded with witty observations about the perils and absurdities of our times, Mad About the Boy is both outrageously comic and genuinely moving. As we watch her dealing with heartbreaking loss and rediscovering love and joy, Bridget invites us to fall for her all over again.

Pre-Read Thoughts:

  • It is important to note I am a huge fan of Bridget Jones and in fact the movies are ones I have watched on several occasions
  • I will be listening to All by Myself whilst reading this book. (someone bring the wine and ice cream) It is only right
  • I have never managed to read this book the whole way through…. I will this time I swear
  • As you get older you really do start to relate to Bridget more.
  • As with Sherlock I will be off to go and watch the movies again and well who does not want to fall back in love with Mr Darcy….. Although I must state I am a sucker for Mr Daniel Cleaver (IT IS HUGH GRANT I AM NOT SORRY) and yes I know this book is after all that but one must watch all the films

I will be giving a run down of these books on Friday maybe even a review if I get to finish them.

What are you reading this week?

Love Always,

Gee xoxo
