I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday and a wonderful start to your July. We are back with something I have not done in forever, it is a small business spotlight but with a slight twist to it.
I am incredibly touched and honoured that Josie got in contact with me. Not only do I love bees (when I’m not worried about being stung) but they are also a Pokemon lover which at this point means we are basically besties. However I think the work they are trying to do is incredible.
A little bit about Josie and the incredible work she is trying to do:
I am Josie, a girl formerly hiding from the world. I have Aspergers and I find it hard to engage with the world and express myself, but I am challenging myself every day by writing about bees and Pokemon.
Although we often don’t talk about it much in every day life, everything we do is built on bees. Our ecosystem is everything we build on, bees are everything we build on. Our intricate ecosystem is so precious, held up by other ecosystems like supporting strands in a web and if there is a break, it can mean entire sections break off and collapse, including our own. It stands to reason that we should seek to care about our world around us – as a form of self care if nothing else. Approximately 70% of our food depends on bees but evidence shows us they are fast losing ground due to climate change but also the use of deeply damaging pesticides (neonicotinoids).
It’s really hard to know how to start or what to do to help – having Aspergers, I am used to feeling totally overwhelmed over even the smallest things. I have often found it so hard to do the things I know I want to do. I can’t organise myself and my thoughts and it’s so easy to end up in a downward spiral feeling so utterly overwhelmed. This leads to giving up. This is why I wanted to create a guide full of the most helpful, easiest ever actionable tips that anyone can jump on and complete and feel actually badass for the day.
You can find all the crazy bee challenges here and steps you can take to help right now!
Because when something is very accessible, easy to do and put in front of you, it is the easiest thing to jump on that rung of the ladder, so to speak. And it becomes the action you will most likely take because it provides the path of least resistance.
What I wanted to do is to turn helping bees into an entire campaign of fun! Having fun means we end up helping automatically while having a good time, which makes it so fulfilling for us at the same time, which makes us want to do it more.
Turning a negative situation into a positive one is an incredibly powerful step to take for ourselves, as well as being an incredibly therapeutic tool for us wherever we are in life. Positive effects spiral. As like anything that has a tremendous and positive impact on ourselves, the effect will be amplified when it comes to the environment and the world around us, which then impacts ourselves and inspires us further. Call it the law of attraction or karma – it’s what we put out in the world, what we fill our hands with!
Have a little visit and get excited – there are so many fun and easy and out there, crazy steps to help out – even as simple as decking out your homescreen with an adorable girly bee wallpaper and then sharing them on. We can choose to fill our next moments with love and positivity and action and intention for a better world and future. When our hands are empty we can fill them with anything!
Now I do not know about you but I know I am buzzing to get involved. Also there are some really cool free phone backgrounds if you click through to her website. It has been nothing but a pleasure working with Josie on this post and I hope you guys will get involved and check it out.
