Blogmas Day 17: Wrapped Spotify Tag

Happy December!

I hope you are all staying safe and well. I cannot believe how close we are to the end of Blogmas! Today’s post is honestly so much fun.

The Challenge:

The idea of this challenge is to put your 2021 playlist on shuffle, and for the first five songs, you need to pick a book you read in 2021 that fits that song. It doesn’t have to be a perfect fit. You just have to explain why you chose that book for that song. Obviously, you will not have a book match for every song, so you can skip if you need to. But the idea is that you at least need to try, even if it is embarrassing. This was a lot of fun last year, and I’m excited to be doing it again. I hope you all will too!

If you want more examples or are just curious, you can find the original post here from Rosina.

Side note: This challenge really made me realise quite how mixed my music I listen to is. The emotions where everywhere. It was really fun to do this tag however if we were to look through my whole spotify wrapped playlist it’s hard to tell my mood.

Song 1:

Holiday – KSI

Obviously for this one I went with the first book that came to mind from hearing the word Holiday. So we are going with one of my favourite books The Longest Holiday by Paige Toon. I actually also think that this song is weirdly fitting to the book.

Synopsis:

He’s smiling down at me with tears in his eyes as I say my solemn vow:
‘I, Laura, take thee, Matthew, to be my lawful wedded husband…’ I thought I would never feel like this about anyone ever again. Not after my first love… Not after the heartbreak and the loss and the trying to pick myself back up again… Then I met Matthew, and I know that he has my heart forever: my perfect, gorgeous, adoring Matthew. And then I wake up. And I remember that he’s not perfect. He’s so far from perfect that my heart could surely collapse from the pain that instantly engulfs me…
To say Laura is unlucky in love is an understatement. Her first boyfriend died in a horrific accident, and now she’s just discovered that her husband of six months has been hiding a terrible secret. Devastated and unwilling to face reality, she escapes on a girls’ holiday to Key West with her best friend Marty. But a deep and instant attraction to a sexy Cuban scuba diver takes her completely by surprise. When her two weeks in the sun come to an end, Laura doesn’t want to go home again. But she can’t run from real life forever. Can she?

Song 2:

Kiwi- Harry Styles

Let’s be real there is not one of us that is surprised by the fact this is on my list but hey we love a Harry moment. Obviously there was only one choice for this and I am going with Illicit Affairs by Holly Dixon. Listen I blame my emotions at the time but also any chance I get to mention my Holly I am going to.

Synopsis:

NOT ALL WOMEN ARE SUBMISSIVE. Ava Archer had everything a woman could ever desire. She was beautiful, rich, sociable, and free to do whatever she wanted between the sheets. Her job was easier than breathing when she worked as an assistant for her old man. Ava got everything she wanted and was used to getting her own way… Until she met Nathaniel Brooks.

Order and control were all that Nate knew when he was a managing partner of the prestigious law firm Archer and Brooks. When his business partner takes ill, he must leave his comfortable Manhattan branch and tend to the firm in London. He didn’t foresee this change being problematic but then again…

He hadn’t yet met his fiery and tenacious assistant, Ava Archer. In a battle for dominance, Ms. Archer would need to fall in line if she were to work under Mr. Brooks but there was just one problem: not all women are submissive. When the clock strikes five, both would soon realise the difficulty in keeping things business as usual behind office doors. Will Nate be able to maintain control over his heart? Will Ava lose everything when she learns that for a lawyer, deception is their art?

*TIP …. if you get the paperback maybe do not read it on the morning train into London… Or do but I have warned you*

Song 3:

Good Girls- 5 seconds of summer

Again one book came to mind so we are going with A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder- Holly Jackson

Synopsis:

The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.

But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the murder, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?

Song 4:

Pierre – Ryn Weaver

Listen this song just gives me Bridgerton vibes so you just know what I am going with. The Duke and I – Julia Quinn.

In the ballrooms and drawing rooms of Regency London, rules abound. From their earliest days, children of aristocrats learn how to address an earl and curtsey before a prince—while other dictates of the ton are unspoken yet universally understood. A proper duke should be imperious and aloof. A young, marriageable lady should be amiable… but not too amiable.

Daphne Bridgerton has always failed at the latter. The fourth of eight siblings in her close-knit family, she has formed friendships with the most eligible young men in London. Everyone likes Daphne for her kindness and wit. But no one truly desires her. She is simply too deuced honest for that, too unwilling to play the romantic games that captivate gentlemen.

Amiability is not a characteristic shared by Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings. Recently returned to England from abroad, he intends to shun both marriage and society—just as his callous father shunned Simon throughout his painful childhood. Yet an encounter with his best friend’s sister offers another option. If Daphne agrees to a fake courtship, Simon can deter the mamas who parade their daughters before him. Daphne, meanwhile, will see her prospects and her reputation soar.

The plan works like a charm—at first. But amid the glittering, gossipy, cut-throat world of London’s elite, there is only one certainty: love ignores every rule…

*Sorry not sorry *

Song 5:

Why did it have to be me- Mamma Mia 2

One summer in Santorini – Sandy Barker

Synopsis:

There was something in the air that night. . .

Sarah has had enough of men. It’s time to rekindle her first true love – travel – so she books a sailing trip around the Greek islands with a group of strangers.

The very last thing Sarah wants is to meet someone new… But then a gorgeous American man boards her yacht and she knows she’s in trouble. And when she also encounters a handsome silver fox who promises her the world, she realises that trouble really does come in twos.

Will Sarah dive into a holiday fling, embark on a relationship, or stick to her plan – steer clear of men, continue her love affair with feta, and find her own way after all?

As always I am not doing specific tags but honestly I recommend you doing this tag even for just a bit of fun.

Who was your most listened to artist in 2021.

Love Always,

Gee xoxo
